This outstanding architectural panel is relief carved out of what appears to be mahogany. The primary board is hand planed and chamfered on the back and has applied edge molding. The relief carving is gorgeous, with the central focus on some sort of flower. It retains an old varnish. This is most likely one of many that were once built into a ceiling in a formal home. Perhaps even painted at one time. It is not a perfect square, measuring 26-1/2" by 28" by 1-1/2" thick. A beautiful hand crafted element from the past! Wired for hanging.
