This outstanding 18th C. chopping bowl or mortar is hand hewn of solid burl, believed to be cherry. Found in upstate New York, with wonderful wear and a nice patina. Ca. 1780. It has a thickness of 2-3/4" and a diameter of approximately 11-1/4". A forged iron chopper with wood handle is included but did not come with the bowl. A great piece of early burl that is both attractive and functional!
