This lovely little birch single-drawer work stand or side table came out of New England.  Dating  to the early 19th century, it still retains its original period pull and vestiges of an old red wash.  It has finely tapered legs in the Hepplewhite style with a very nice splay.  A very country piece with early square nail and pegged construction.  The top is attached with square nails; the legs and skirts are mortised and pegged; and the lipped drawer is dovetailed and also has early square nails. There is one very old split towards the the top of one front leg which can be seen in photos.  This split is quite early and very secure, secured with the original wooden peg.  Measuring 27-1/2"t by 14"w by 15"d.  A very nice little country New England stand with wonderful appeal!
