This is a wonderful 19th C. trade sign in the form of a pair of scissors.  It was once used for either a Tailor or Seamstress shop.   Completely hand carved out of wood and hinged together with a forged iron nut and bolt.  It still retains its outstanding blue basecoat that had once been covered in black paint to appear to be iron.  There are traces of the original black top-coat.  I personally like the bluish-colored basecoat better.  Simply a great piece of Folk Art in an unusual form!  It measures 35" in length (width can be adjusted with hanging).
