This stunning 19th C. carved wood frame surrounds a later period mirror. The carving is quite elaborate, with scrolls and floral and leaf decorations. The paint history shows a light grey over remnants of an earlier black or very dark blue. It may have once been an embellishment on an early merry-go-round or carnival wagon, and turned into a mirror later in its life. It measures 34-1/2" tall by 20" wide by 2-1/4" thick. A stunning and decorative early piece!
