This outstanding New England slide-lid box is beautifully constructed with three augured finger pulls in the hand-hewn lid over a finely dovetailed case sitting on a protruding molded base. It retains a wonderful dry red painted surface with stylized lettering "E. Fleming". This box could have been used for storing documents or candles. It is made of cherry and maple. A very stunning and functional piece of Americana! It measures 16"w by 8-1/2"d by 6"t. From a private Washington, D.C. collection.
