This outstanding early toy  cat dates to the first quarter of the twentieth century.  It is German made and in pristine condition.  This comes from my own personal cat collection.  I have enjoyed it for quite a while now and have decided to offer it for sale.  The body is made like the early papier mache' candy containers, molded and hollow.  It is covered in a hand painted wool that resembles a theorem painting..  The cat has beautiful green glass eyes, a painted composition nose and still retains it's original squeaker (or in this case meower) which operates by pulling a tiny ring in the cat's chest.  This mechanism also opens the kitty's mouth at the same time for optimal visual effect.  This has been one of my favorites, my most cherished.  And although hard to part with, it is time to let it go.  Kitty measures 9" in height with an approximate body length of 7-1/2" and approximately 4-1/2" wide.  This was obviously a very well-cared-for toy that probably sat on a shelf for most of its life.  A super early 20th C. squeak toy!
