This wonderful 19th C. firkin is in all original, as found condition, retaining its original dry gray painted surface. It has a hand hewn bail handle that is attached with wooden knobs. The fingered, lapped bands are secured with early nails. This great utilitarian piece from the 1800's is perfect for stacking. A super find for any firkin collection! Measuring 10-1/4" diameter at the top; 11-1/4" diameter at the base; and 10-1/4" tall to top of lid; From a Maine estate. (minor surface imperfections and one tight age crack in lid). Wonderful dry surface!
