This is an exceptional So. Hingham, Mass. (stamped on lid) firkin that retains its original green painted surface and bears the stencilled name of a business or owner. The lapped fingered bands are secured with early copper brads. The bentwood handle is attached with hand carved wooden pegs with knob heads. This firkin is in super condition for its age, with no breaks or repairs of any kind, just normal surface grime and wear that is expected with age. It measures 10" tall to the top of the lid; 14-1/2" tall to the top of the handle; 9" across at the lid; and 9-3/4" across at the base. A super example!
