Early Hand Carved Butter Stamp

This unique butter stamp is very small, most likely used for butter pats.  It is hand carved in the form of a horse, with a detailed mane, eyes, and ears.  The stamp is a star.  And on the bottom of the horse is the name of the carver, Scott, who was quite proud of his work and wanted to be sure that whoever used this stamp knew that he made it.  19th Century.  Wear to ears from years of use.  A great piece of folk art!  Measuring a mere 3 3/8" long by 2 1/2" tall by 3/4" wide.

Provenance: The late Smitty Axtell
