Kentucky Blanket Chest

This lovely early country blanket box came out of Mason County, Kentucky.  Made entirely out of cherry wood, with fine hand-planed and chamfered panels surrounded by four corner posts that end in very tall turned legs.  The lid has bread-board ends.  Hinges are later replacements.  Although it has a diminutive appearance due to its high legs it measures 41" wide by 18" deep by 24" tall.  A lovely piece of early KY furniture. Ca. 1830-1840.
