Kentucky Ladder Back Side Chair

This early 19th C. ladder-back chair was handed down through the Kentucky family of Lannie Taylor.  I purchased it out of her home just after her death in 1997.  It has been in my home for over twenty years. All of the chair components are hand hewn out of cherry, with the stretchers being ash.  The four slats have nice curvature.  It has a "Shaker" look, but I believe it is just a good old country ladder-back.  The seat is a later replacement woven out of jute, most likely done back in the 1950's or 60's, and quite possibly done by Lannie Taylor herself.  It measures 46" to the top of the finials and is 15-1/2" deep (front to back).  The seat measures approximately 14-1/2" deep by 18" wide with a seat height of 17-1/2".  This is a a very sturdy old southern ladder-back chair with a warm, rich patina and great country charm!
