This early locksmith trade sign in the form of a large key dates to the late 19th to early 20th C.  Made from sheet iron and is hollow, making it light weight and easy to display.  There are some very scant traces of the original gilt.  But most of that has weathered off and what is left is a fabulous old patina.  There are a few imperfections from age that can be clearly seen in the photos.  But all in all this is a terrific trade sign.  Measuring 35" in length.  It comes with a pair of wall brackets to suspend the key from a wall using thin wire.  A unique piece of folk art!
