This stunning, very graphic dome-top box, is paint decorated in a rather naive fashion with black swirls and dots on a brick-red ground, painted on all four sides. The surface has wonderful oxidation that would be expected of a box this age. The box is finely dovetailed and has a very clean, unaltered interior for storage. It has its original hinges and lock, but is missing the hasp. It measures 28-1/2" wide by 13-3/4" deep by 13" tall. ca 1820-1840. New England origin. Simply a stunning paint decorated dome-top box!
(minor surface imperfections; tight, unseparated age crack in lid)
