New England Diminutive Paint-Decorated Bentwood Pantry Box

This outstanding pantry box is made out of pine and maple, with a fine oval form with tacked finger-lap and wooden-pin construction. It retains its original painted surface,
featuring black free-hand and stenciled decoration against a chrome
yellow ground. Possibly Massachusetts. Second quarter 19th
century. Measuring just 1 5/8" H by 5" L by 3 3/4" W.
Very good overall condition with minor expected wear and
discoloration, slightly heavier to cover.

Provenance: The Folk Art Collection of Jan & Watt White.
