This is an exceptional mid 19th C. nautical frame

with original gilt surface. The frame itself is made of formed gesso to resemble nauticl roping that has been applied to a wood frame. The gilt liner also has nice detail on the interior edge. The painting of pussy willows is oil on accademy board. It is not original to the frame but does date to the late 1800's. The frame is in excellent condition with only minor age cracks (expected with age), but they do not hurt the integrety of this fabulous nautical frame. It still retains it's original wood panel backing. I think that this frame would be stunning showcasing a horizantal coastal painting. You are buying the frame. The painting is simply a bonus.
