I am so excited to be offering this outstanding 19th C. Pennsylvania folk art photo frame! I have never seen anything quite like it, certainly a one-of-a-kind piece.   It is hand-carved from a two pieces of wood that are mortised together, with the exception of the three applied finials and two applied "swirl & dart" embellishments.  Even the pinwheels, initials, hearts, posts and dots are carved within the same piece of wood.   The gold color is actually gold leaf. The maker even went to the trouble of decorating each of the five posts with a "barber pole" design.  I wish I knew the identity of the three gentlemen in the photos so that I could trace the history of this extraordinary piece.  Dated 1892.  Measuring 26" to the top of the center finial, by 13-3/4" wide. carved from two 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick pieces of wood.  Obviously made by a very gifted carver/artisan.
