Country Splayed-Leg Table
This early table came out of an Ohio collection. It is made of walnut and retains an early, possibly original, red-painted surface, with pegged construction and a two-board top. The splay to the legs is impressive. There are a couple of early square nails that had been added for reinforcement to two splits where the legs are pegged into the skirt. And there are several later, very tiny, nails scattered around the edge of the top that probably held a piece of cloth or skirting. A great early country table! Measuring 28.75" tall with the top measuring 19.5" by 22.5".
