19th C. Sheet Iron Rooster Wheathervane
This outstanding weathervane was found in the Midwest. It was a homemade piece and has a fabulous aged patina that can only be created with time and weather. The cutout numbers and letters reveal the date it was made and probably the initials of its maker. His leg is mounted in the original cone shaped base that would have been attached to the base on the roof. He now has a custom base for display. He measures 28" tall (without stand) by 21 1/2" wide. A terrific piece of folk art!
