​Sailor-Made Pin Cushion

This very unique and rare pin cushion is sailor-made as a love token for a wife or girlfriend.  It is carved out of whale bone with a pair of love birds, surrounded by a floral vine.  The base has three ladies' legs with panty looms.  It still retains the original pin cushion top which is worn velvet stuffed with excelsior.  A rare find!  Measuring just 5 1/4" tall.  Mid 19th C.
