Sailor Made Shoe Token
This fabulous tiny shoe was hand woven out of fishing twine by a sailor or fisherman in the late 19th C. He may have crafted it as either a token of love or possibly as a souvenir to make money when docked. It is in remarkable condition and originally had been painted gold. It still retains most of the gold paint. It measures a mere 5 1/2" long by 1 3/4" wide by 3 inches tall. This is the tiniest example I have ever seen. What a wonderful piece of maritime craftsmanship!
