This beautifully smoke decorated box was meant for storing important documents. The lid hides an interior drop down compartment that could also have been used as a writing surface. The interior dropdown is secured with wire hinges. The box lid is secured with the original butt hinges. Both the lid and base have applied edge moldings. And the box is of early nailed construction. Condition: minor scattered surface wear and abrasions; age crack in lid. All are consistent with age and use. Measuring 19 1/4" w by 10 1/4" d by 8" t.
