This is a very folky late 19th C. free-hand hooked rug of a whimsical spotted dog in muted colors.  The body of the dog is raised, similar to a Waldoboro rug.  The dog's tongue is sticking out and almost resembles "that of a snake".  Pennsylvania origin.  Professionally mounted on acid-free backiing and ready to display.  Measuring  38-1/2" wide by 22-3/4" tall.
A true one-of-a-kind and a terrific piece of American folk art!
