Very Rare 17th C. Leather Toby Mug

This outstanding example dates back to the 1600s.  This one, in the form of a Quaker, is made entirely out of leather with amazing detail.  Notice his long pipe, his own little drinking mug, and the fine detail of his hair, hat, and facial features.  Although these were primarily used in taverns as utilitarian items, each Toby mug was a one-of-a-kind a work art.

Condition:  The leather is dry, and there are small breaks here and there. But considering that it is well over 300 year old, it is in an amazing state of preservation.  I consider this to be of "Museum quality".
