18th C. Staffordshire Whieldon Octagonal Plate

Thomas Whieldon (September 1719 - 1795) was an English potter who made pottery for Staffordshire that was decorated in a tortoise shell pattern known as Whieldon Ware. Many different patterns and colors were made. It is somewhat rare and hard-to-find since much of it was used daily and broken over the centuries.  From the Jacobs Collection.  Fine condition with no cracks or chips.  Some surface scratches from past use.  Price reflects this.
