This brace-back Windsor side chair in a black painted surface has been in our home for nearly 15 years. I originally purchased it from a private collector. It is of New England origin dating to the late 1700's. It has a 9-spindle back mortised into a hand contoured seat. The legs and stretchers boast beautiful turnings. The chair has a wonderful splay to the base. The paint is a later surface that was probably added sometime in the 1940's or 50's, as the previous owners said that it was like this when they aquired it back in 1951. But it has nice over-all wear and is in good, sound condition with no breaks or repairs. It has an overall height of 35-1/4" with a seat height of 16-3/4". It has not been ended out. This is a very comfortable chair in very good condition. Maker unknown.
