Colonial Wrought Iron Meat Skewer
This is a wonderful example of Early American wrought iron. This 18th C. hand wrought meat skewer has a double rest with shoe feet so that the meat could be flipped. The handle of the skewer has a fancy "twist" design that terminates with a finely curled rat tail. Wonderful surface. The previous owner did apply some varnish to preserve the piece. But it has worn down and has only a slight sheen. Measuring 14 1/4" in length. Purportedly purchased from James Sorber of Pottstown, PA in the early 80s.
