This outstanding 19th C. lift lid school desk is originally from Maine.  It still retains 95% of its original sea foam green painted surface.  It has an unusual "V" shaped configuration.  The desk has a lock, but no key.  There are carved initials, early pencil drawings and a note in the interior that reads: "Desk of Thomas Bridgham, son of Samuel, 1st Mayor of Providence, 1784."  There is general overall wear from use but it is in sound condition.   An extraordinary desk with  an exceptional surface!  Desk is 26"w at its widest point and the seat is17-1/2"w.  The desk is 33" deep from front to back.   It is 36"t at its tallest point with a seat height of 18-1/2".
