This very large storage box is in it's original, very pure, untouched surface. It came from the Putnam House Hotel in York County, Maine. It is done in a wonderful Windsor green paint with areas of light blue oxidation, with oyster white lettering that is surrounded by black shadowing, done completely by hand. It has perfect wear and patina for its age and has fine dovetailed construction of 3/4" pine with a square nailed base. This very sturdy box may have been used for storing candles or hotel documents. A fine example of 19th C. craftsmanship, with well executed sign painting. An exceptional find!
