This very fine chest of drawers is made out of solid tiger maple, no veneers.  It came out of Licking County, Ohio, from the home of Bert Lyle, a Newark, Ohio artist who painted in oil.  His name is written on the back, most likely for shipping purposes. It has a two board tiger maple top with two over three gorgeous dovetailed tiger maple drawers that have applied cherry edge molding. The case is supported by posts that end in finely turned legs.  It also boasts a magnificent scalloped apron.  The back is made up of two hand chamfered panels.  Ca. 1830-1840.   A truly beautiful piece of Ohio's past!  It measures 42-1/2" wide by 21" deep by 49-1/2" tall.  (legs have been restored to original height)
